Delhi University (DU) has introduced a new protocol for its colleges regarding various events, which prohibits the use of floral bouquets, mementos, and other gifts. This initiative aims to reduce unnecessary expenses, suggesting that organizers should only present flower garlands, stoles, or fruit baskets during ceremonies.
The notification was issued on September 26. It also mandates that fruits given during such events be distributed among underprivileged children in government schools or orphanages.
According to the notification, no floral bouquets, mementos, or other gifts will be permitted for welcoming or honoring distinguished guests. Organizers may use flower garlands, stoles, and/or fruit baskets for such occasions.
The responsibility lies with the organizers to ensure that the fruits gifted after the event are distributed primarily to underprivileged children in nearby orphanages or government schools.
This initiative is part of DU's effort to conserve resources following any commemorative events, seminars, or conferences, and all universities, colleges, and affiliated institutions are required to implement these measures immediately.
